Canovas Theater in Malaga
The Cánovas Theater is a theater in the city of Málaga, Spain, and is located on the Ejido hill, in the Centro district.
Opened in 1991, since 2005 it has been managed by the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, an entity attached to the Ministry of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Junta de Andalucía.
The Cánovas Theater has 370 seats and a small B room with a capacity of 50 seats, they are part of the so-called multidisciplinary and multipurpose scenic spaces attached to the Ministry of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Andalusian Government. Since the 2013-2014 season, the Cánovas Theater has experienced a new twist in its programming, dedicating itself to child and youth public.. Two spaces linked to the city of Malaga where you can breathe own production and proposals full of creativity and contemporaneity for different audiences.
Children's and family programming from the Cánovas Theater seeks to bring children closer to the stage and offers each season specific programs such as the Thespis Project, the Cycle of Theatre, music, dance, circus and flamenco for children and young people dedicated to educational centers with its colloquiums at end the function where the critical spirit is encouraged among the students as well as the International Festival of Theater With Puppets, Object and Visual, Cycle of Humor.
The Malagueta Cultural Center
The Malagueta Cultural Center opened its doors on January 31, 2020, after the rehabilitation of one of the symbolic buildings in Malaga, its Plaza de Toros.
Such rehabilitation made it possible to alleviate its serious structural deterioration and recover its original exposed brick façade, just as it was 145 years ago. A renovation that was carried out by the Diputación de Málaga, owner of the building.
