Imaginate

Festival / Event / Programming

Imaginate is Scotland's national organization that promotes, develops and celebrates theater and dance for children and young people.

We want more children in Scotland to experience deeply engaging, innovative and inspiring work. We believe and defend that all children have the right to develop their creativity and emotional intelligence and reach their true potential. Our vision is driven by the belief that inspiring our young people is essential not only to their individual development, but also to the development of Scotland, its economy and its place in the world.

We strive to achieve this ambition through the delivery of:

A world-class theater and dance festival for children.

Art forms development and support program for resident artists in Scotland

A program of artistic development and support for resident artists in Scotland

Relationship with diversity:
Imaginate has a firm commitment to accessibility and equality. We want to create an environment where everyone can participate equally in our program of activities. Whether as an audience at the Edinburgh International Children's Festival, as a participant in our school and community programme, or as an artist making work or taking part in our creative development opportunities. As an organization, we believe in the Social Model of Disability, which recognizes that people are disabled by the barriers present in society, rather than by their impairment or difference. We are working to remove these barriers to the way we work (see areas below), but we are aware that we won't always get it right. We appreciate your feedback on how we can improve. If you have any suggestions or recommendations please contact [email protected]. This manifesto video by Al. Di. Qua. (a collective of artists), which claims cultural rights and recognition of disabled artists, captures exactly what we believe in. https://player.vimeo.com/video/693890932?title=0&byline=0
