The LA MÀXIMA performing arts project of the ILERSIS Private Foundation is committed to social transformation through the theatrical visibility of diversity.
La Máxima was founded in 2008 as part of a social and theatrical outreach project. Its main objective is to offer people with intellectual disabilities a space in which they can develop their creative potential, experience personal growth, and achieve self-realization. Through the practice of theater, participants not only work on body movement and emotional management, but also develop critical thinking, creativity, and the ability to build group cohesion. Theater thus becomes a transformative tool that fosters personal expression and social inclusion. Initially, La Máxima began as a simple theater activity within the occupational center, led by a theater-trained professional from Ilersis. Rehearsals were held at the center, and the course concluded with a performance in front of their classmates. Little by little, participants began to experience significant improvements in their skills, both personal and artistic, generating the need to professionalize the project. In 2019, with the aim of continuing to grow and gain visibility, the company achieved another success through the Education in the Basque Country program, aimed at schoolchildren and teachers at preschools and primary schools in Lleida. Thanks to this program, several schools in the Segrià region began attending La Máxima performances, treating the company with the same respect and recognition given to professional companies. The first play presented within this framework was "La Rateta que barría la escaleta," a performance that allowed students to discover the talent and hard work of people with intellectual disabilities through inclusive theater.Relationship with diversity:

Barcelona
YURDANCE is a dance collective founded in Barcelona in 2014. It is based on the experimentation of non-normative bodies and translates these singularities into tools of creation and expression. The goal of our pieces is to provoke in the viewer a reflection on the stereotypical perception of how we view and value the "other." It is also to reclaim a place in the current art scene.
